Four week portraits!  (one day late...I know...)

The puppies had visitors today: My friends Wendy and Caroline who have Tollers (Nova Scotia duck Tolling Retrievers). The puppies were pretty sleepy but Starbell woke up to give kisses :-)

The puppies enjoy their daily romp in the yard and they are already moving "like real dogs" (Adam). They were on grass, gravel, bricks, plastic, wood, tile, carpet and paper by now. We also practice making different noises - Adam LOVES this game.

Sidekick is figuring out the use of one's teeth

First video of the new play area. It has many new toys and objects that move, crinkle, and challenge the pups footing. I introduce new surfaces everyday.  As you are going to hear on video, pups are growing teeth and today they got their first taste of kibble. They were EXCITED. All good eaters - Weims are munch hounds if you haven't heard that before. 

Poor Evie has mastitis: its an infected mammary gland. Only one teat and she is not in pain but its hard and warm. Here she is sporting a hot water bag - to soften the swelling. She has to be on antibiotics so its good that the pups can eat now dog food. She is nursing them willingly tho.

Puppies are having some visitors, they have a new play area (a larger pen with many toys) and spend some time on grass every day - they are little explorers by now!
